I recently attended a lecture about a father who had suffered a heart attack. Common beliefs have led me to think that people who are suffering from heart attacks are usually overweight and in poor physical shape, but that is not the case for everyone.

The lecturer’s father works out every day, practicing strength training and maintaining a good fitness regime, and he is in the target weight range for a 65 year old man. He is healthy by all accounts, yet still suffered a heart attack. The reason that he is believed to have had a heart attack is that he wasn’t eating as well as he could have. It is important that people understand that part of a good workout regime is how (and what) you eat. People who are practicing regular strength training should get plenty of protein as well as fruit, vegetables, and grains.
