Online classes can enable business professionals to gain international experienceInnovations to technology have enabled many companies to work with clients from all over the globe. As a result, some of these organizations are now seeking executives who can help them expand their international operations.

However, many potential candidates for these positions may find it difficult to train for a global job while completing their current duties. As a result, some campus-based and online schools are launching degree programs that are intended for working students who have years of professional experience.

For instance, the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia recently opened the application process for its new MBA for Executives Global program. Approximately 40 executives who have worked in business for at least 10 years will be accepted.

Over the course of 20 months, these enrollees will complete classroom-based and online courses, and have the opportunity to travel to emerging markets, such as China and India.

Peter Rodriguez, the school’s associate dean for international affairs, said that the curriculum is intended to “reinforce overarching themes from one locale to another.”
