College Graduates Needed

A recent report from the Lumina Foundation indicated that approximately 4.5 million new college graduates will be needed to satisfy the American workforce demand over the next 15 years. As a result, the educational organization has launched a new project that is intended to help working adults to enroll in campus-based and online degree programs.

In partnership with schools and associations across the country, the foundation has committed to 19 initiatives that will help professionals improve their credentials and gain higher education.

These efforts will call upon various strategies that answer the needs of adult learners. Participating groups will help nontraditional students determine which programs will best suit them, gain real-world experience that will help them succeed in the workplace, apply previously earned credits to their new educational pursuits and land jobs in fast-growing fields.

Increased Education for Adults

Through these efforts, the organization hopes to make higher education accessible to more than 6 million working adults within the next four years.

Jamie Merisotis, president and CEO of the Lumina Foundation, said that these programs will provide “adults who have gone to college but did not receive a degree…the right information and motivation to help them succeed.”
