A deal was finalized between the two schools on Tuesday, according to the Oregon Statesman Journal. Adult Education Programs Linfield College offers adult education programs for individuals who wish to obtain an online degree. The school has a nursing program which allows registered nurses (RNs) to further their education by working toward a bachelor’s degree. Students at Chemeketa will now be able to earn their associate’s degrees in nursing, become licensed and continue their education online at Linfield. “We believe in lifelong learning and we’ll promote that for our graduates,” Chemeketa dean of health Kay Carnegie told the news source. She added that the partnership with Linfield will add more value to Chemeketa degrees. Working Adults Schools such as Chemeketa and Linfield that offer online education options are ideal for working adults who are looking to obtain a degree and maintain their busy schedules. The U.S. Department of Education is working to highlight the benefits of attending non-traditional schools and help President Obama reach his goal of having the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.
