Excelsior College to offer MBA degree program for healthcare management professionalsExcelsior College has announced the launch of an online master's in business administration (MBA) program to meet the demand for healthcare management professionals in the U.S.

College officials say that as more Americans gain access to healthcare under new federal laws, more management-level professionals will be needed to accommodate the influx of patients.

“There is great opportunity in this field, and the best-qualified healthcare managers will be working adults already in the field who gain master’s-level education,” said Jane LeClair, dean of the School of Business and Technology. “Some of these adults must first earn a relevant bachelor’s degree, and our program streamlines this educational process for working professionals.”

many jobs in the healthcare field require a master's degree, and graduates of similar programs may land jobs as department managers or as supervisory staff members, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Recent estimates from the BLS suggest that the healthcare management field will experience a 16 percent increase over the next eight years, by adding an additional 45,400 jobs to the workforce.
