Flexible class schedules offered by online schools have been a primary reason for their recent success. This week, Ellis College of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) was recognized for its accomplished online degree program by Global Academy Online. Each year, Global Academy Online releases its list of the best and worst online degree programs across the world. This year, more than 300 colleges and programs were considered. The rating system was based on a scale of one to five, and five was the highest possible grade. Ellis College was one of the schools that made it to the top of the list. The school offers individuals a large virtual campus where they can interact with professors over the web at any given time. Students, who are typically working professionals, are permitted to take one class at a time as they work toward a degree. Computer and information systems jobs are predicted to grow by 17 percent by 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Schools that provide online information technology programs, such as Ellis College, can expect to see higher enrollment numbers.
