McHenry Community College expands its course offerings for spring 2011 semesterOfficials from McHenry County College (MCC), which is located in Illinois, recently announced that it will be offering an online business management degree starting in the spring 2011 semester, The Chicago Tribune reports.

The new business curriculum will be part of the school’s Fast Track program, which enables professionals to earn certificates and participate in accelerated degree programs.

“We are very excited about the upcoming programs MCC plans to launch,” Tony Miksa, vice president of academic and student affairs, told the news source “We are really trying to provide degree and certificate programs that link to the job needs of our community, as well as anticipate up-and-coming areas of demand in the workforce.”

School officials told the news source that it is also including an occupational therapy assistant degree, an associates degree in culinary management and a computer numerical control certificate in next semester’s course catalog.

According to a 2009 report from the Sloan Consortium, approximately 4.6 million students were taking at least one web-based course during the fall 2008 semester.
