College officials said that members of CSFA who pursue the degree can receive tuition discounts of as much as $900 per course. Furthermore, students can participate in courses at 23 locations across California or online. "Our mission is to create flexible and targeted programs that benefit the specialized needs of adult students who want to advance their education, but have a variety of other responsibilities," said Gary Brahm, chancellor of the school. School officials added that a significant feature of the degree program is community college credits and fire technology units can count as credit toward earning the degree. Fire technology units are similar to normal college credits, which can help individuals in the profession earn credit toward a college degree., Furthermore, the curriculum enables students to work full-time jobs because classes are offered year-round and can be completed at each student's convenience. According to the the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities in the firefighting field are expected to increase by 19 percent over the next seven years. Furthermore, nearly 57,500 new jobs are expected to be available by 2018.
