If you are a mom currently in college or considering returning, you are most likely dreaming of the day that you will participate in your college graduation while receiving your degree.  This dream is definitely not impossible and can become reality if you just keep going forward and working hard towards your goals.

If you are a mom still contemplating returning to school and haven’t yet taken the giant leap forward, these following questions may be flooding your mind at this very moment:

Questions of a potential college mom

  • Can I afford to go to college? (Check out the financial aid page here on classesandcareers.com.)
  • Do I have time to go to college?
  • Do I attend college online or on campus?
  • Will I be able to devote time to my studies? (Check out studying tips on busymomtips.com.)
  • Will I be able to complete my goals and actually graduate with a degree?

These are all excellent questions and are all very normal.  I can definitely relate to all of them.  Whether you are returning to college or going for the first time, it is equally overwhelming.  How do you overcome your fears and have your questions answered?  All you can do is write down your questions at this point and answer them to the best of your ability.   How will you know unless you try, right?  If you try and feel like it’s not for you, then no worries.  If you know you can do it but you are afraid of the challenges that lie ahead then you need to ask yourself if you are willing to take that step forward.  You know yourself better than anyone else and what you can handle.  Don’t let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams and goals of a college degree honored with a college graduation.

For moms already in school, you may be feeling like you will never get finished.  Don’t fret, keep plugging away at it and you will get the college graduation of your dreams while holding that coveted degree in your hand if you just keep striving and persevering.  You may be at a point right now where you are feeling discouraged and like you want to give up.  Don’t give up and don’t be discouraged.  Yes, it may be a while until you graduate from college but it will be so worth it in the long run and you will be so very proud of yourself.  Your family and friends will be very proud of you as well.

Here are a few “pep” tips to help you stay on the college graduation path.  There is light at the end of the tunnel!

College Tips for College Moms

  1. Keep on studying when you can and do your best, it’s all you can do and it’s all that is expected of you as a mom.
  2. Don’t skip classes because you feel tired.  This will make you want to quit altogether in the long run.  Don’t let tiredness rule you.  Rest whenever you can!
  3. Always remember to make time for yourself.  If you don’t take time for yourself you are going to burn out pretty quickly.  Treat yourself to your favorite dessert or how about a pedicure or manicure, or maybe even a nap!
  4. This won’t be forever, make a list of how many classes you have to go, it may look long but at least you can see what you have left and that there is an end in sight.
  5. Lean on your family and friends for support.  They want to see you succeed with your goals so they will be right there to cheer you on.
  6. Sometimes house work can just wait.  It will always be there.  Don’t feel like you have to be doing housework every single day.  This was a big one that I learned.  To risk not falling behind though, just try doing a sweep through before you go to bed.  You will feel better about yourself.  Check out how to be organized with your housework on orgjunkie.com.

Hopefully these brief little “pep” tips made you feel a little bit better and you are now feeling motivated and refreshed.  You can do this moms, I have faith in you.  I know that I will be relying on my own tips when it comes time for me to complete my second degree.  Sometimes I feel like I will never be able to complete my goals to receive my college graduation and degree but I know if I never do it, that dream will never come to pass.
