One will be at Montgomery County Community College and will take place in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The second will be at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. 2011 Graduating Class of Salve Regina University Dr. Jill Biden will address the 2011 graduating class at Salve Regina University. Salve Regina is a coed Catholic university. With over 2,500 students, this college excels in the arts and sciences majors. Established in 1941, the campus is considered one of the most beautiful and unique in the country. The campus contains 21 buildings listed as historical and deemed valuable for their unique gilded age architecture. This college’s distant learning and web based education serves students throughout the United States and around the world. Home of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, Salve Regina works diligently towards its’ mission of encouraging international dialogue to achieve a more peaceful world. Students graduate with the education and learning experiences needed to play an active role on all levels in their community, nation and on an international level. Montgomery County Community College On Thursday, May 19th, she will address graduates at Montgomery County Community College‘s 44th Commencement Ceremony. This will take place at Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, PA. Montgomery County Community College has over 34,000 students enrolled. This college has won many awards and its’ highly dedicated faculty is committed to working one on one with students in an effort to ensure each student’s success. The college’s Achieving the Dream project supports and funds research in the area of developmental studies. About Dr. Jill Biden A teacher for over 30 years, Dr. Biden continues to teach English in a northern Virginia community college. She is a firm believer in the value that community colleges bring to education and said that community college is the nations, “best kept secret.” As Second Lady of the United States, Dr. Biden has dedicated her services to community colleges. She oversees an outreach effort to bring media attention to the benefits of a community based higher education system. In the past, she has addressed the graduation class of the University of Delaware. She has also been a key note speaker at the Columbia University Teacher’s College. Prior to becoming second lady, she taught English in community colleges, public high schools, and child psychiatric hospitals. She earned her Doctrine of Education at the University of Delaware. Her dissertation focused on maximizing student retention in community colleges. She also has a two Master’s Degrees â€” both of which she earned while working and raising a family.
