May 10, 2011 | | Leave a comment So many moms learn how to be creative in soÂ many areas.Â It may come natural for some andÂ requires work for others.Â How many moms out there have ever made homemade birthday invitations for your children?Â Well, did you ever consider taking it up a notch and making your own college graduation announcements?Â It can be done whether you have a creative bone in your body or not.Â Graduation announcements can get very pricey and I know that moms are all about sticking to a budget and saving money.Â This is a fun idea whether you are a mom or have a son or daughterÂ about to graduate from college.Â Whatever category you fall into, here are some detailed yet simple tips on how to create your own college graduation announcements.Â FYI: Don’t worry; these can look as good if not better than store bought ones in case you are worried about the appearance of the announcements. Â But, this all depends on how much time you are able to spend on them.Â If you just throw them together then most likely they will not appear to be as professional looking as store bought announcements. What you will need Computer Printer Cardstock If you are into scrapbooking and like attention to detail, you can go all out and create the graduation announcements that way vs. creating them on the computer! For already made printable announcements, check out college graduation announcements on graduation-invitations-graduation-party.com *Before creating your own announcements, make sure you have all the correct information to insert into them before moving forward.Â Things like the date and name of the college are very important pieces of information you surely do not want to mistakenly omit.Â The instructions below are courtesy of eHow contributor; Barbie Carpenter.Â I also added my own ideas in the mix as well. Instructions Open a document in your word processing program like Microsoft Word etc.Â If you want your announcements to be the standard size, set the page size to 6 inches by 4 inches. Select a simple border to add to your announcement.Â Just go into the format section of your word processing program to choose a single line, double line, etc., but remember to keep it simple just like professional graduation announcements. At the very top of your document, type the desired introductory line with the desired font color.Â Â If you are sending out the invitation and not the school, then the school you are graduating from gets to announce the graduation.Â For example, The University of Michigan announces the graduation ofâ€¦.. List your name on the announcement and the type of degree you will be receiving. Hit return or enter to separate these two lines. On the next line you want to include all of the graduation information.Â Location, date, and time are important pieces of information to include on the announcements. Be sure to print out your information on ivory card stock or if you prefer, your college or university’s colors.Â It’s a good idea to print this information out on regular computer paper first to make sure it prints out correctly.Â You can also review it in this manner to check for any errors before going forward and printing on the card stock.Â Print as many needed and send out to family and friends.
