May 27, 2011 | | Leave a comment Vermont Law School (VLS) has recently launched two online master’s degree programs online: Master of Environmental Law and Policy (MELP) and The Master of Laws in Environmental Law (LLM). It is the nation’s first online master’s degree in environmental law. The online programs were designed for professionals who are interested in earning an advanced degree in environmental law but need to continue working. The programs will give these individuals the flexibility and accessibility neccessary to complete their degrees as they continue to focus on their careers. The Online Master’s Degree Programs in Environmental Law VLS is offering two online degree options that were developed to provide students with the know-how to address the increasingly complex environmental issues we face in today’s society. The online Master of Environmental Law and Policy (MELP) was created to give both law and non-law students a deep knowledge and understanding of the policies and laws that shape global environmental solutions and prepare them as real-world agents of change. The online LLM in Environmental Law was developed for post-JD attorneys seeking to specialize in the practice of environmental law and lead the movement to shape global environmental law and policy. This program has been at the forefront of the field since 1978 and has been ranked #1 by U.S. News & World Report 13 times since the ranking began in 1991. It holds the distinction of being the only program of its kind available online and is offered by the law school with the top environmental program in the country. “By providing a platform for students to explore environmental law and policy with our world-class faculty at their own pace and within their own constraints, we will extend Vermont Law School’s unique brand of excellent environmental legal training and commitment to public well-being to a vast array of communities and to the world,” said Marc Mihaly, director of the VLS Environmental Law Center. Applications are now being accepted for these online programs. The flexible options of the MELP program allow students to complete it in as little as 12 months or up to five years.
